Schizophrenics and scary movies?
I guess you wouldn't be able to judge whether or not a schizophrenic is going to freak out except on a case by case basis. Incidentally, a schizophrenic person would not be effected by missing one dose. I also think it is not cool for you to coddle her like a mother hen cares for her nest of chicks. She isn't a baby. I am schizo too and if I went to see a movie and the other person decided for me what I can and cannot see, they would be taking the bus home while I drive myself in my car. It is just insulting and condescending and sends the message that I am or she is inferior to you in intelligence and common sense and needs to be protected because she couldn't possibly be trusted to have an original thought of her own. And who knows if your fears would even have merit. I had an extensive collect of rare horror DVDs before I sold them all to help pay for tuition and books. They never harmed me, and in terms of dead bodies and blood and brains, I have done things in the cadaver lab that would probably send you running for the door. Wanna know what will trigger me? I was staying at my sisters house alone to feed her cats while she was on vacation. I found this to be very stressful and I became convinced that someone had broken in while I was asleep and stole a potted plant. I went to my house and came back with a 10" long scuba knife for when the bugler came back. Turned out my sister moved it to a different spot, but this is the kind of thing that will set me off. There is no telling with this disorder, but if you want to keep her as a friend you should treat her as an equal.
